Find Your Perfect Bracelet Size
Bracelets fit differently depending on how they're built. Chain and tennis bracelets clasp on and should have a little give; bangles are rigid and need to slide over your whole hand. Here's how to measure for both.
A bracelet that fits well should move with you ā snug enough not to spin around, loose enough not to dig in. Because bangles and chain bracelets are built completely differently, they're also sized differently. A few minutes measuring the right way now saves a resizing trip later.
Three Ways to Measure
Choose the method that matches the style you're shopping ā all three take less than five minutes.
String or Paper Strip
Best for chain and tennis bracelets. Measures your wrist circumference directly.
- Wrap a strip snugly around your wrist, just below the wristbone.
- Mark where the ends meet, then measure the length.
- Match that measurement to the "Wrist" column in the chart below.
Measure at the end of the day, when your wrist is largest.
Use a Bracelet You Already Own
For a chain bracelet, lay it flat and measure clasp to clasp. For a bangle, measure the inner diameter at its widest point.
- Choose a piece that fits the way you like.
- Measure total length (chain) or inner diameter (bangle) in centimeters.
- Match that number to the chart below.
Works best with a piece you already wear comfortably.
Measure Your Hand for a Bangle
Bangles are rigid and have to slide over your whole hand, so hand size ā not wrist size ā determines fit.
- Tuck your thumb into your palm, like putting on a jacket sleeve.
- Wrap a tape measure around the widest part of your hand, across the knuckles.
- Match that measurement to the "Bangles" tab in the chart below.
When in doubt with a bangle, size up ā too small won't go on at all.
A Few Things That Affect Fit
- Measure at the end of the day, when wrists and hands are naturally at their largest.
- Chain and tennis bracelets should have a little give ā aim for about one fingertip of space between the bracelet and your wrist.
- Bangles are rigid and don't stretch ā when between sizes, always size up.
- Your dominant wrist and hand are typically slightly larger than the other.
- Wide cuffs and statement pieces can sit more snugly than delicate chains ā check the product page for adjustable clasps or extenders.

Snug fit sits closer to the wrist (typical for tennis bracelets); comfort fit drapes a little looser (typical for chain styles).

Hand circumference is measured across the knuckles with your thumb tucked in ā the widest point the bangle needs to pass over.
Bracelet Sizing Questions
What if I'm between two sizes?
For chain bracelets, go with the comfort-fit length. For bangles, size up ā a bangle that's too small won't go on at all, while one that's slightly larger will still sit and move nicely.
Can bracelets be resized after I order?
Most of our chain bracelets have adjustable clasps or an extender chain built in. Bangles are typically a fixed size, so accurate measuring matters more there ā reach out if you're unsure before ordering.
How do I know if I need a bangle size or a bracelet length?
Rigid, solid-band bracelets that slide over your hand are bangles, sized by inner diameter. Flexible chain and tennis bracelets that clasp on are sized by total length. Check the product description if you're not sure which style you're shopping.
Do men's and women's bracelets use different sizing?
The measuring method is the same for both ā men's styles are simply offered in a wider length and diameter range to suit larger wrists and hands.
How accurate is measuring at home?
Very close for chain and tennis bracelets, when done carefully. For bangles, since there's no room for error, we recommend the hand-circumference method above or a quick note to our styling team.
